Steve Carell and Tina Fey can rejoice today, their new comedy “Date Night” has topped the box-office this weekend. The film which has a host of starry supporting turns from the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis and James Franco, shot into the no.1 slot with a commendable $27.1 million. The reviews were generally quite agreeable, and so the comedy should expect to survive in the top 10 for at least a few weeks. It’s very possible that “Date Night” could cross $80 million domestically, and that would make it a definite success. At no.2 “Clash of the Titans” fell steeply on its second week, taking $26.9 million. The film is now on $110 million.

“How to Train Your Dragon” remained strong at third with another $25.4 million, good word of mouth keeping the DreamWorks flick afloat. It now has a reasonably inspiring $134 million, with the potential to make a good deal more. Tyler Perry’s badly reviewed “Why Did I get Married Too” was at no.4 on its second week, taking $11 million for a $49 million total. The drop off from last week was predictably hefty, most of its potential audience now undoubtedly having been exhausted. Finally dropping one place this week, the Miley Cyrus starring “The Last Song” netted a further $10 million. It now has a $42.5 million total after impressive mid-week showings bolstered its numbers following last weekend’s middling debut. The rest of the Box-Office is as follows.

6 Alice in Wonderland (2010)

7 Hot Tub Time Machine (2010)
